**Originally Posted MONDAY, 23 SEPTEMBER 2013 Palos Verdes Estates Police Chief John Eberhard retired Oct. 31, exactly one year to the month after assuming the $158,832 a year post. Eberhard, 56, was a 28-year department veteran making $123,552 as a captain when he succeeded Dan Dreiling as head of the small police force, which has about 25 sworn officers.
